A tailor-made Italian dress shirt typically offers the best fit, but many men simply cannot wait a few weeks for the delivery if they need it for a special occasion. To accommodate these clients, the custom clothier Bellucci Napoli—which has a three-level boutique in an office building overlooking Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue and 57th Street—is offering a new service that delivers bespoke Neapolitan shirts in just 24 hours.
“I had the idea for this service but wasn’t sure how it would work,” says the company’s founder, Nedo Bellucci, who discovered shirtmaker Simone Olibet in 2007 and moved him to New York in December 2011 to execute this project. “When I met Simone in Naples,” Bellucci says, “he was so ambitious and enthusiastic about the idea, I knew he could make it happen.”
The shirts (from $675) are measured and cut by Olibet at Bellucci’s 19th-floor shop, where clients can choose from roughly 15 different styles of collar, cuff, and button and from 170- to 200-thread-count cottons in 30 colors and patterns. At the same time, clients can enjoy a glass of wine on the 18th-floor terrace.
Each shirt is completely assembled and sewn in the shop and stitched with a number that corresponds with replacement collars and cuffs, which are stored in a personal drawer with the client’s measurements and order history and are periodically dry-cleaned to match the wear in the original shirt’s fabric over time. Clients may instead opt for new collar or cuff styles upon return.
Bellucci Napoli also offers traditional Neapolitan shirts, made in Italy (from $350), and bespoke suits (from $3,500). (212.207.8228, www.belluccinapoli.com)
